Come and make this gorgeous block keeper over a couple of sessions in the studio. With a beautiful English Paper Pieced (EPP) front cover this piece will keep your work safe and looking great - either between classes or as a sample block book.

The completed size is approximately 14.5” x 14.5”

Session 1 - Thursday 25th September 10am - 1pm

EPP front cover (all hand sewn.) Kelly will take you through the steps to create this beautiful front cover. You will learn how to use a mirror to make the star centre and how to fussy cut to create the rotational kaleidoscope affect. You will also learn how to accurately baste and sew paper pieces to make the front ‘showcase’ cover of your book. Some EPP experience helpful but not essential.

All paper pieces and templates will be provided.

For the front cover you will need - 3 x fat quarters and 1 x fabric for the central square - which needs to have 8 repeats within it to cut 8 x 2” diamonds.

Session 2 - Thursday 6th November 10am - 1pm

Once the EPP front cover is completed there are several options to choose what to do next!

  1. Create a sampler block ‘book’ where blocks are attached and bound to wadding to create ‘pages’ - a great way of preserving blocks as an alternative to incorporating within a quilt

  2. Add a hard front and back cover for added protection.

  3. Have some pages within the sampler keeper that are just wadding - these can then be used in further projects to place patchwork pieces and to keep them safe - in between classes or moments of sewing!

Once decisions have been made Kelly will take you through the steps to make binding, inside pockets, matching ties - all to complete the block keeper.

You will need -

  • a sewing machine

  • different fabrics (exact measurements will be sent out in class confirmation)

  • wadding

All classes are held in our stable studio in the beautiful village of Isfield. Please note that the studio is 80 metres approximately from the driveway along a gravel path - so those will mobility difficulties please take note. Due to the studio’s idyllic position the nearest toilet is back up the path in the main house.

If, for any unforseen reasons the class has to be cancelled firstly a new date will be offered and you may either transfer to the new date or a refund will be issued. Should you need to change your booking please get in touch with Kelly as soon as possible to discuss alternative plans.
